Top-of-the-Table Clashes Headline Friday Night Action in the APL
First-place Calgary Wild FC U23 host St. Albert Impact Women before reigning men’s champions Calgary Blizzard take on league leaders Edmonton BTB SC

A pair of early-season statement matches are set for Friday night in the Alberta Premier League, with four of the league’s top-performing teams taking the field in contests that could help shape the standings in both divisions.
The action begins in the women’s division, where first-place Calgary Wild FC U23 welcome second-place St. Albert Impact Women to Calgary at 5:15 p.m. MT.
After finishing outside the title conversation last season, Calgary Wild FC U23 have emerged as one of the league’s early success stories in 2026. The club sits atop the standings with nine points from its opening four matches, having won three of its first four contests.
St. Albert Impact Women enter the match just two points behind the Wild with a game in hand. Through three matches, St. Albert have collected seven points and remain unbeaten, setting the stage for a meeting between two of the league’s strongest starts to the season.
Later in the evening, attention shifts to the men’s division as reigning champions Calgary Blizzard host Edmonton BTB SC at 8 p.m. MT.
Edmonton BTB SC have opened the campaign in impressive fashion, winning each of their first four matches to claim top spot in the standings with 12 points. After finishing third in the men’s division last season, BTB have carried that momentum into 2026 and established themselves as an early contender.
Standing in their way are the defending champions. Calgary Blizzard captured both the men’s and women’s Alberta Premier League titles in 2025 and have once again positioned themselves near the top of the table. Through three matches, the Blizzard have collected nine points and sit level with Calgary Foothills FC, just three points behind BTB with a game in hand.
While there is still plenty of soccer left to be played this season, this evening’s matchups offer an opportunity for each club to make an early statement.
With first and second place meeting in the women’s division and two of the men’s leading contenders facing off later in the evening, the APL spotlight shines brightly on tonight’s action.
