With six weeks of action now complete, the Alberta Premier League’s men’s and women’s title races are beginning to take shape.

In the women’s division, Calgary Blizzard moved into sole possession of first place with 13 points, while Calgary Foothills and Calgary Wild FC U23 remain close behind on 12. The top three spots continue to be occupied by Calgary clubs, highlighting the city’s strong start to the 2026 season.

One of the standout performances of Matchweek 6 came from Edmonton BTB SC Women’s Gabrielle Linford, who scored four goals in a 6-0 victory over Callies United. Linford became the first player across either division to score four goals in a single match this season.

On the men’s side, the race for first has become a true Battle of Alberta. Calgary Foothills, Calgary Blizzard and Edmonton BTB SC are all level on 15 points, with little separating the league’s top three teams.

Foothills continue to lead the way offensively, scoring 24 goals through five matches. Their total is double that of both Blizzard and BTB, while three Foothills players currently rank among the league’s top four goalscorers.

Meanwhile, Blizzard’s victories over Calgary Wild FC U23 and Cavalry FC II helped the club climb to the top of both divisions, further tightening the races heading into Matchweek 7.

With the season approaching its midway point, every result is becoming increasingly important as teams look to establish themselves among Alberta’s title contenders.
