Cavalry FC II trio earn Development Contracts with CPL first team
Daniel Pribytov and Kacper Plocinski join Cristiano de Sousa in earning first-team opportunities after featuring in the Alberta Premier League
Three Cavalry FC II players have taken the next step in the club’s pathway from the Alberta Premier League to the professional game this summer.
Cavalry FC announced Thursday that defenders Daniel Pribytov and Kacper Plocinski have signed Development Contracts with the Canadian Premier League club for the remainder of the 2026 season. The pair join goalkeeper Cristiano de Sousa, who signed a Development Contract with Cavalry in July after also featuring for the club’s APL side this season.
All three players have developed within the Cavalry FC Academy since 2025 under head coach Francesco Bartolillo.
De Sousa, 16, became the first player to earn a Development Contract since Cavalry moved to its full-time academy model. The goalkeeper, who previously played with Calgary West, made eight appearances for Cavalry FC II during the 2026 APL season and recorded three clean sheets.
Pribytov, 17, and Plocinski, 16, both joined Cavalry’s pathway after previously playing with Calgary Foothills and were recognized for their performances with Cavalry FC II at the club’s end-of-season awards.
Pribytov played every minute of Cavalry FC II’s APL campaign and was named the club’s Defensive Player of the Year, while Plocinski was voted Most Valuable Player by his teammates and staff.
Plocinski’s performances also earned him recognition at the national level, with the defender called into Canada’s U-16 men’s national team camp in Chile in August.
“Daniel and Kacper earning Development Contracts is another great example of the importance of our full-time academy,” said Bartolillo, Cavalry FC’s Head of Youth Development.
“One of our main goals is to create opportunities for young players to enter the first-team environment, where they can continue to develop, be challenged, and take meaningful steps toward becoming professionals.”
Under their Development Contracts, all three players are eligible to make up to four appearances for Cavalry FC while maintaining their amateur status.
The three call-ups provide another example of the pathway from the Alberta Premier League into a professional first-team environment, with de Sousa, Pribytov and Plocinski each earning opportunities with Cavalry following their 2026 APL campaigns.
